You didn't say what his past marital history is. If he is 45 and has never been married, this is unusual for a heterosexual man.
On the other hand, I have known at least one man who was quite feminine in his ways but who is deeply in love with and faithful to his wife.
You need to get more information about his gentleman.

Don't worry. But ask yourself if you really love him. If yes, then nothing else should matter. By the way, being feminine does not necessarily mean that he is gay, many straight guys have feminine mannerisms. If you are worried, just ask him directly: "Are you gay?" and see how he reacts. If he becomes angry, defensive or nervous - he might be gay. But if he is amused by your question or if he starts to laugh - then he is probably not gay.

Age +/- 10 years should not be a problem, IMHO! Being a Fem (not me, him) then yes, be carefull!
