Will this work, is this safe (It seemed like the videos of the genades had sparks...will it cause a fire?

Well, since a paintball is made of a water based fluid, with a gelatin shell, I don't know why in the world you think it will even burn, let alone be useful as a smoke bomb.
But setting that aside, why do you insist on using a smoke bomb? Throwing something that burns up onto your roof is just a bad idea. If you need to get rid of a squirrel, use a pellet gun, or maybe a .22 if you don't live in the city.
Although, if you don't see a problem with tossing an incendiary onto your own roof, I wonder if you should be trusted with a rifle... :)

If the squirrel is on the outside of the roof, get a Hav-a-hart squirrel trap for about $25.00 and release the little sucker in the next county. If he is inside the eaves, place moth balls in the soffit whereever he is entering. Put the moth balls where you can retract them after the squirrel moves out, then repair the holes.
All of the smoke bombs I have seen, WILL burn your house down.
One of those large plastic owls will scare off a squirrel, by the way.

instead of going to jail for arson try this -- find a water gun (in walmarts or toy-r-us) then in a gallon jug add one bottle of ammonia and four of the same bottle of water -- then fill the water gun with the mixture and shoot the areas that the squirrels are accessing your house (then for good measure shoot the eves of your house for wasp and hornets) this is a temporary measure as you will have to reapply the solution from time to time it works for me

don't, just buy a nice pellet gun (called air rifle when they are mega bb guns) and shoot the little bugger in your yard. just watch what is beyond your target.
