I'm a jr. high student who has worn glasses for about seven years. However, I'm thinking about asking for contacts. The glasses are a bit restricting, and I think I would look better without them. What are the pros and cons of contacts as opposed to glasses?

I have noticed that my prescription keeps getting higher evertime I get new lenses(the lenses get thicker). Is this a reson to switch, or a reason to stay with glasses?

I wore glasses since I was about 9 until I was 16. I tried them, hated them, and went back to glasses until now (im 20).

First, make sure you get a good disposable pair that will work with your schedule. When I first got mine, I wore them on weekends or for special events (too much rush in the morning), So I used the every day disposables (throw out after each use). My prescription just changed, and I've found I prefer myself without glasses most of the time, so I got monthly disposables instead..

You are USED to yourself with glasses, so it's likely you won't think you look "good" without them. I had dark circles from my glasses, and found that they took awhile to go away, but once they did, it was great. Another pro is everything feels closer! It's SO crystal clear 99.9% of the time, and you can look and see everything no matter which way you turn. You never have to worry about smudgy lenses - my favorite part? Showering when i can actually see!!! haha...

It can be a pain to put in and take out contacts, but it will get easier. Sometimes, if looking at the computer for long periods of time, it can be hard to focus. Also, you want to make sure youre prescription is up to date and exact, and that contacts that will truly correct your vision are available; For me, my contacts can't correct it completely, but the difference between them and my lenses is so slight it doesn't bother me.

If you're allergic, you'll want to be careful, as itchy watery eyes can be a problem..

Ofcourse, contacts are cheaper than glasses (For me atleast), and certainly - in the summer - you can wear any sunglasses you want.

I've found a compromise - using my glasses some weekdays, when my eyes feel tired or i don't have the time in the morning, and for "just in case" times, and using my monthlys always.

If you're into it, with contacts, you can change your eye color. FOr my hazel green (which is dark), I've found clear contacts bring out the color - perhaps because they're "glassier".

Hope I helped! Goodluck either way!

I wear my contacts alot more than my glasses. The only reason why I wear glasses at all is because you can only keep your contacts on for a certain amount of time. All I have to say is your contacts won't fog up if you enter a building after you have been out in the cold.

Green Day,

I wore glasses all through grade school and high school. When I got to college, my parents finally let me get contacts.

Now, you can wear the contacts for a week, take them out for a day, and put them back in. You toss them every month. I like these much better. Also, I switch between my contacts and glasses whenever I wish.

Once you get used to contacts, they are great, just keep some re-wetting drops handy because your eyes will feel really dry sometimes. I switch back and forth between my contacts and glasses, depending on how much time I have in the a.m. and what I'll be doing that day. Contacts are great for swimming, going to the beach, sports, and you can wear sunglasses!

Actually, glasses are very inconvenient for me. I love my contacts and would hate to be restricted to only glasses again. I have great peripheral vision and I don't have to worry about the lenses getting wet or fogging up on me. If you get contacts you can rotate between using those and the glasses. It works beautifully. =)

You can actually see better out of contact lenses than glasses. If you get them, be sure to take them out and clean them/change them as often as recommended by your eye doctor. You can get some very painful eye infections if you don't. My husband can't even wear contacts anymore. I would suggest to not sleep in them, even if the doctor says you can. Just don't get in the habit.

Contacts are cool and glasses are cool. I personally have both and believe that they both can work. Glasses are good for days when you aren't doing anything or when you are not being active. Contacts work for when you are active or road trips and a plethora of things. So if possible you should get both!

I sometime where my contacts. One reason I don't wear them all the time is that I get eye infections. It is probrably because I don't clean them correctly, but when you have contacts you need to buy solutions and everything. Glasses are safer for your eyes. If you wear contacts I reconmend you to take them off after school. Wear your glasses so your eyes can rest at home. Just don't wear contacts till you think you can handle it.Don't wear your contacts too long if you wear them.

Pros:
You feel better without anything on your face. You can wear SUNGLASSES!

Cons:
There is a daily cost to contacts. Your contacts can irritate the eye sometimes. Its minor, but don't ditch the glasses. Once in awhile you'll want to wear them, just to give your eyes a breather.
