What is the best way to cook: hot plate, oiled or without ?

Asker’s Thosai/Dosai keeps getting stuck to the pan. Kindly provide details.

Thosai without oiling the pan is possible. Or if oiled, Ghee ?

SUMMARY

eric g – “oiled.”
:: The batter will splatter.

Steve G – “Teflon or non-stick pan does not require oiling. Swipe the pan with an oiled paper cloth (paper towel).”
:: Appologies. The “hot plate”, it is a large slab of blackened stone or hot skillet with which the batter is poured. The temperature as you rightly pointed out should be medium or low fire.

Huggywell
:: Links do not work. Thank you for the effort though.

I researched your recipe and I have a question, you say "hot plate" do you mean pan? If you're using a Teflon or non-stick pan your problem is solved, there is no oiling to be done. The directions I saw said to swipe the pan with an oiled paper cloth (paper towel) and your cooking over a medium heat
