Some guys I know have lied about their height, usually being shorter than what they say they are. Is it an insecurity issue? I mean, it's cute, in a way, but I just wish a guy did not feel he had to lie about his height.
Especially when they wind up being shorter than me... because I love being able to lay my head on a guy's shoulder, and if they are the ones that are laying their head anywhere on me, it is not romantic at ALL!!

...and for the record, I have never lied about my weight. I tell guys beforehand, I am not a toothpick, barbie is not here. Size 22, voluptuous BBW.
And one of the reasons I like a taller guy is because I like to be held. That is one thing that I "need" due to the fact that I was not shown much affection from growing up. I want to know that I can be "protected." I know it's probably psychological, but it's there.

Well Im a short guy.. I havent lied about it but I can see why and it is because that is the number one thing girls look for or ask for... You try to set a girl up on a date and its "how tall is he" and it doesn't matter if the girl is 5 feet tall she will still want a tall guy... The fact of the matter is that I dont have a problem getting to know girls but if they had a choice to screen guys out (for example internet dating) then they would screen out the short guys... I hate girls!!!! HAHAHA
good question!

Most men want to be taller than the woman. It makes the shorter man feel less superior. I am suprised that most women dont lie about there height because I am not at all attracted to a woman taller than me.

Yeah that have a complex about their height. If he is a really short guy he might feel that he isn't tall enough so he stretches the truth.
Maybe he feels if you meet him, you will like him so much personality wise & even looks that you want mind him being shorter than most guys.

Little Man's Syndrome. Most men feel insecure being shorter than 6'1. They feel "height" and "size" is everything; unfortunately, not all men fit that description. A man has to feel secure and confident with themselves, regardless of height; or else no one else will.

It's entirely the human psyche.
Any society containing males will promote behavior like this. Nature and society rather heavily imply that height is an advantage. Therefore, lack of height is a disadvantage.
Pffft. Humans and their skewed logic.

i do believe it is a slight insecurity issue...i think it's cute, too...a lot of women swoon over tall men, or at least men that are taller than them...it's kinda similar to when some women lie about their age, because a lot of men like the woman to be younger than them...

some guys don't like being so short. And of couse its not romantic for a girl to be taller than a guy always bending down to kiss them and whatever. it just doesn't seem right.

because they're insecure. It hard being short for girls but its probably worse for guys because society kinda "expects" them to be tall. He could've been tease about it too. also being tall can give people more confidence (especially since its a more powerful position) either that or they can't measure.
