The same thing you want from any police agency.
What you need to do is remember that the police are under constant stress all the time. The are expected to be the protectors, the councilors, the parents, the social workers and the peace keepers. This gig will ruin a person. You become poisoned. You are beat down for 20 or 30 years and expected to take it. You see the crap of the world on an hourly basis. You clean up after everyone's screw ups. No one calls you because they are having a good day.
Bottom line, NYPD has more cops than many towns have people. And NYC has more people than most states. That's a recipe for disaster. Stuff is gonna happen.
As for the recent shooting, let the investigation pan out... don't jump to conclusions. If its a bad shoot... it will emerge as such. Don't try to judge the whole agency or every cop in the city or country by that one firefight.

Why nypd? arn't most all cop's jobs the same throught america?
what makes nypd so special that it's all over the news and media?
NYC is a very safe place. There not even ranked in the top 100 murders per population raito in america. Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse are three cities in NY with a higher murder rate then NYC, all located in the north west of NY.

What people fail to realize is there really aren't that many police shootings. It's the media pushing it in your face and spinning it up. Think about how many times the police have come close to shooting someone and didn't or how many lives are saved? You don't hear about those b/c people don't care. They want to hate cops and the media provides them a way to do it.
There was a guy who lit his house on fire with his kids still inside, who then set himself on fire in the front yard. The cops came, got the kids out and saved the guy too. One cop was so badly burned he had to go to the hospital. Only thing on the news was the weather...happens all the time.
Before you ask what you want, know for sure what you have.

I want better marksmanship and less tolerance with people who like to taunt the police and make trouble for law-abiding citizens.
No one is above the law and those enforcing the law should have greater leeway regarding how to deal with thugs and the so-called "bad boys" of society. Some people just have no respect whatsoever and are just due for a good beating.

The truth and nothing but the truth. Not conjured up "truth" to cover their behinds...but the ugly truth and their willingness to be held accountable for their actions.
