Not totally sure, but i think its because during the waking hours, your body expells so much energy doing other things, that it takes away from what is most important, building antibodies to fight whatever it is that is causing your fever. when a person is sleeping, all that energy is able to be more focused on fighting the infection that causes the fever.
that's why it is important to get enough sleep.
