because not every single hair on your head reaches to the same length. some hairs get broken off with brushing and combing and washing, so if your hair is down to the middle of your back, you are likely to have thicker hair up nearer your neck than down at the ends, since many of your individual hairs are still on your head but broken off higher up than the longest ones.

I alwayssee it as the opposite, but sometimes i guess it could be because if there's so much hair, than it's weighed down, and heavy, so it looks thinner. It also gets dead, so there u go.

The weight of longer hair "flattens" it down. I have fine hair and it's a monster to give volume at its current length. Blow drying after brushing hair styling mousse into my hair gives it a little volume, but I could have a lot more if I chopped off most of my hair.

ever consider the weight of the hair may be pulling it down, causing it to look thinner.
