it all depends. i had the top of my foot tattooed and it hurt consistently for about a week. and then it still hurt if i bumped it or put on shoes until it was completely healed (two weeks) i wouldn't worry about it. your stomach is a pretty tender spot and as long as it doesn't look infected... you should be good.

Being that your tattoo is under your clothing all day and in a more sensitive area it will hinder the healing process slightly. Make sure you keep it clean with antibacterial soap and scent free is best. Let it dry completely and then apply something to keep the moisture in for long periods to help with the peeling and itchiness...I have 4 and I always use vaseline. Some tattoo artists go deeper with their ink than others and some colors of ink take longer to heal as long as there is no puss or bleeding then you should be fine. Give it time.

Have you let the tattoo dry before you apply your ointment? this helps get the swelling down, not letting it breathe a little traps bacteria against the skin. Wash it more often and let it air dry before covering it with anything. Normally mine last 3-4 days of mild pain and itchiness. just don't scratch it. Consider it a severe sunburn, skin has been breached in the same manner.

Continue to follow the instructions you were given. Just be patient. And please, DO NOT use neosporin. Neosporin contains a drawing salve that could potentially fade your tattoo. Just don't pick at it, keep it cleaned and moisturized...A&D ointment works wonderfully. Also, try to keep your clothes from rubbing it, that may be where the continued irritation is coming from. Hope this helps!

Where did you get it? I got one on my right breast and it only hurt (barely) for a day or two. It's also pretty small. If you got one on a bonier area of your body it will probably hurt for a few more days. As soon as it heals you'll be fine.
In the meantime use antibacterial (neosporin) with a pain killer in it. That will help.
