the answer are a and b
as a matter of fact, whenever you are doing a starting, stopping, turning, lane changeing or passing. you need asignal.
I also suggest a turn signal on a turn only lane because if your friend following you, it is easier for them to watch and if the snow coving the road marking, a turn signal will be a better indicator.

a: is required at least 100 feet before the turn.
anytime you are turning whether in a turn lane or not the signal is required,
