This is a question for those over 30:

How old were you when you started dating, what were your tastes back then, and how much has your perspective/tastes about dating changed since then?

Oops, forgot to share my own story.

I began dating at around 14, and at the time, I was always attracted to the artsy/drama club types.

Today, I still lean towards women with a more creative streak, but my perspective has changed immensely. I'm not nearly as idealistic as I used to be, but I'm not quite jaded or cynical about yet. I don't put as much meaning behind the little things anymore. I don't obsess over "what does this mean?" or "what should I do?" because I've been there before and I've learned from my mistakes.

On the other hand, I'm still single, never married, no kids, so my methods could still use some refinement.

I started dating around 15 or 16. I am almost 30 now though and dating now is a lot harder than 15 yrs ago! I try not to blame new boyfriends in my life for the mistakes that old boyfriends made. I give everyone a fair shake but apparantly I am not doing something right because I'm still single!

What? When did we start dating? Like 15 or 16. Tastes? Really there is no comparison. You simply do not know enough about anything when you're fresh out of the gates. Now though, with a little time, perspective, experience and education... dating over 30 is a thousand times better. You just know more. I think that where you live also makes a difference -- whether the dating population is small or large in your town.

(I would still go to a Billy Idol concert, though!)

about 14- too young. Hard to tell how things have changed as I haven't been out there for over 30 years. I wonder sometimes if it really has changed. More competitive and a faster pace I guess.

I started dating at 16...I'm 41 now...I darn sure hope my tastes have changed...LOL!

I've been married twice...I've learned a lot about life and love that as teens we just cannot know...I refuse to settle now (because I've done it before and didn't like it)...I know the fairy tales aren't real and I wouldn't want them to be...I know that infatuation can be as fun as love, but it's short term...I know that passion and a lot of spark can set things moving and it can be amazing, but if we're not careful it can fizzle as fast as it began...I know I don't need a man in my life, but I desire to have a partner to share Life with...

Ha! I started dating at 17 I think. My tastes haven't changed a lot. I still like all kinds of men! :) Perspectives? Oh hell yes they've changed. Can you say jaded? No, we don't all think of our ex's, but we do remember everything they ever did wrong. LOL!

Too many of the chicks over thirty are divorced, broke, fat and have a brood of little brats trailing behind them. Only never married, childfree women over 30 are worth dating. And milfs.
