How many times must this question be asked? Please allow me to dispell further myths that live on about Mormons and polygamy.
1. Polygamy (plural marriage) was denounced by the president of the Church, Wilford Woodruff, in October 1890. Any Mormon practicing polygamy was, and will be, immediately excommunicated.
2. Warren Jeffs is not of the Mormon religion, regardless how many others, and the media, builds up that myth to permeate the minds of the ignorant or the unbeliever.
3. Those splinter groups practicing plural marriage are not Mormons. They may hold some of the beliefs, but they are not Mormons! They face prosecution, fines, even imprisonment, by federal and state laws if found guilty and convicted.
4. I am a Mormon, having been baptized in the faith in 1965. I know of what I say here. You people that are convinced that Mormons and polygamy continue hand-in-hand need to let it go because such practice is denounced. It is illegal and therefore against the laws of the Church.

some mormon groups are still polygamist. There was a recent very public arrest of a man accused of forcing underage girls to marry. He was a leader of an offshoot of mormon church. Regular garden variety mormons are not polygamist but there are groups off the beaten path that are.

Mormons are realistic that men need multiple women to have sex with. When women and men are 50/50, it helps genetically weed out many geeks so they can't reproduce. They lack works, so they need to go on missions to aquire some. Those with multiple partners are as a result of having gone on missions as an elder, and since they brought many to the Lord, are rewarded with many wives. If you see Lord's design, you will see objectively, that few men mate lots of women, while many geeks get none. This is normal. Geeky men, if you were a lady, would you take an ugly one home? I wouldn't

Some Mormons do.
It's been in the news, for goodness sake.
How would you like me to identify myself? You mean my religious persuasion? I'm an atheist.

They don't now. It is coming back according to Wilford Woodruff. He said that it seems prudent to stop polygamy "FOR A TIME"

They can't practice polygamy becuse they'd end up in prisons, but "living together" is a convenient excuse. So, technically, they don't - how convenient.
