First, let me say, I'm agnostic. I believe in a higher power, but I have NO idea who or what that higer power is.

Now, for my answer. I don't think "God believers" believe because that want to know how to act. Most people believe because they want to believe in something more than what they see around them. Many believe because it's what they were taught.

Where does your common sense come from? Where does that innate right from wrong come from? Your conscience?

Yes you are right why should we need a religion to teach us how to act? We don't we need God. Murder isn't wrong by the way if it is justified in court according to man. Stealing and the other wrongs you mention will always have a justification to someone somewhere. We need the Bible so there is no question and so no one can say otherwise. This is what God says so do it. Who can argue.

Luckily you have good common sense, there are others that do not. Talk to some people in prison, they have a different sense of what is right and wrong.

Good question though

Read the papers. A lot of people with common sense are doing acts that send them to prison for life. It isn't common sense, it's a sense of common decency. A morality of right and wrong.

And I don't need a book to tell it to me. I need the book to continually be reinforced in an evil world.

Try reading it sometime with an open heart and an open mind, and maybe you will see the truth. Until then, I think you're crazy for choosing a path that takes you to hell.

Human nature is not inherently good, it is sinful. Commensence is learned. Have you ever met a young child that just knew the stove was hot without touching it, or being told that it was hot? Have you ever met a young child that just knew not tostick the key in a light socket? Have you ever met a young child that behaved in a manner that never required correction? I would be willing to bet my life that you have not. The Bible is so much more than a book of rules on right and wrong. It is my Lord and Saviors love letter to me and all who believe. I learned what was right and wrong on a very basic level from my parents and family. It was not until I met Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit, that I realized I needed more. The Bible is one of the ways that God chooses to guide and help us in our lives. Like any good parent God desires to teach us the way He wants us to live, love, and teach. It was not until I was saved, that God was able to reveal to me the things in this terribly misguided world that were hurting me, keeping me from being happy, and successful. For you to assume that people do not need guidence is crazy. I am not trying to be harsh or judgemental, but before you call me and people like me crazy you need to read, pray, and meet my Savior. Until then you will never be truely happy and you will always be lost. I have been where you are, are you strong enough to come to where I am?

We are all born knowing the things you mentioned; the morals. It is ingrained in our conscience from birth. Who created us? God. Who gave us a conscience? God. That is common sense...look around you and open your eyes. Life didn't occur by chance... God created it. Chaos and explosions can't bring about life, much less perfection...that is common sense. The universe could only have been created by a perfect Creator and it was....that is common sense. You weren't an accident and neither is God's creation an accident. Look at the world around you...there is a God...That is much more than common sense...that is truth!

Wow, you need to think. Everyone has common sense, its just that not everyone has proper manners. Hey, drinking is wrong but guess how many people do that. From ur point of view, since a good chunk of the worlds population drinks, then all those people can't be wrong. Henceforth, according to your ideology, drinking is fine. Guess what? Its not. Another thing, think before you speak. God...

Yes, we have common sense. I do not need any religion to tell me how to act/behave in life. I know right from wrong.

What I need in daily life is Grace from God. Grace rules out all human merit. It is the product of God that is given by God, because of who He is not because of who we are. It is the means of our salvation (Eph. 2:8-9). We are no longer under the Law, but under grace (Rom. 6:14). (See 1 Cor. 15:11; Rom. 5:2, 15-20; 2 Cor. 12:9; and 2 Cor. 9:8).

May the Grace of God be upon you.

God believers have more common sense than you can ever imagine. We do not need religion to teach us how to act, or to teach us what is right and wrong. But we do need the Spirit of God to lead us and guide us each day of our life; to help give us strength, courage, boldness, wisdom, love, understanding, and faith. The Word of God gives us direction in every area. If you want to call us crazy, then help yourself. One day you will see for certain who is crazy, and who is not. Common sense is not all that it takes to be pleasing unto God. It also takes a dose of Spiritual sense also; which is received by knowing God personally; by walking and talking with Him each day. You may have all the common sense that you need. But if you do not have Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you are in pitiful shape. I'm thankful that I have a personal God to teach me how to act, so that I do not ask idiotic questions such as you seem to love to ask. My personal advise to you is to read God's Word for yourself; sounds like it would not hurt for you to be taught a thing or two from It yourself. I can assure you of one thing. Jesus Christ is coming back to the earth soon! Very soon! If you are not prepared to meet Him, then you will see who has common sense and who does not have it; who is crazy and who is not crazy.

It's way more than just a book to tell us what is wrong or right. A relationship with God goes far and above that. That is just the beginning.
