I just dyed my hair today [WHOO!], but I have some left over dye from the mixing bowl.

My question is, can I put the left over dye in a bottle and use it later?

Definitely not. In addition to what is mentioned above, if the product contains peroxide it could become explosive. This happened to me when my roommate left some leftover dye on the bathroom counter. I accidentally knocked it over and it exploded everywhere!

NO! Once the dye is mixed you cannot store it in a sealed container or the chemicals could explode. I'm serous.

Unless you are talking about some kind of vegetable dye like Manic Panic... I don't know about those, but with any other hair color or dye, you cannot store it.

Nope, throw it away. The chemistry can change while it sits. And that could result in a changed color-not a good thing. I also think I read somewhere that when the bottle is closed, it will heat & could explode-another not so good thing.

No way. It tells you in the directions that you must discard what is left. If you put it in a bottle the gases will build up and then the bottle will explode..

No. It is like a bottle of soda that has lost it's fizz. Once it sits for a while, it is worthless. Throw it away.

I usually don't, because i use the semi-permanent. I believe you could store the permanent hair dye for 2 wks.

nope, the active ingredients, such as the amonia, will have evaporated by then. no matter how well you seal the container, once the material hits the air it starts evaporating.

no, the oxidating process is what makes the color soak thru the cuticle of your hair, while sitting the dye will have already oxidated.
