I used to take so much medicine for my seizures that I literally slept for 18 hours a day, this lasted for almost 4 years, with very few exceptions, my wife just took my disability paycheck and paid my rent. Then I got put on a new medicine and woke up, like rip van winkle. everything was different. Try different medications if you are on any because side effects are the major causes of this problem. If not see a doctor about a stimulant, my doctor gave me Ritalin to stay awake, but i didn't like how jittery it made me feel. Explain to your doctor. he'll understand

Get your thyroid checked. I was sleeping 11-12 hours a night and still feeling totally utterly exhausted. Then after half my hair fell out and I was gaining weight like crazy I had my thyroid checked and sure enough that's what was wrong with me. Now I can live off a normal 7-8 hours of sleep and I feel great.
And by the way, thyroid medicine is not short-term it's lifelong. BUT! It's cheap and it's just one pill a day.

G'day. Coffee and pills are not the answer. Your problem could be one of many things: depression, chronic fatigue, nutritional deficiencies (which could lead to depression or chronic fatigue or a million other things.)
My advice would be to find yourself a good naturopath or other natural health practitioner (I see a kinesiologist). They'll help you find out what the problem is, and then help treat it in a safe, natural way.
If it's really affecting your life this badly, you need to get it seen to urgently.
Good luck :)

Are you depressed? If not, then you may be experience chronic sleep syndrome. That is not the medical term for this problem, but it is what my friend has. He can go to sleep at any time, any place. You need to go to the doctor and get some advice.

You need to have a full physical exam with blood and urine workups.
You may have thyroid problems that would be easily taken care of with short term medication.
Do you eat healthy? Get regular exercise? This is important too.
Make sure you go to bed at a decent time nightly, before 11pm. This gives your body time to rejuvenate itself adequately.

What you are describing doesn't sound normal at all. Please consult a doctor and once he or she determines what's causing this you can pursue the appropriate treatment. Good luck.
