Bangkok is one city in the world where many races can all live together in harmony. But to understand Bangkok completely you have to get away from Sukhumvit Road where all the tourist are positioned and venture out and see the different areas and cultures near and around Bangkok.

Like the other poster mentioned, the best website is www.visualthailand.com. There are so many photos showing all the different things to see and do around Bangkok.

In this case pictures are worth a 1000 words.

Bangkok is so much more than Bars and nightlife.

Bangkok is a culture and a lifestyle. Living here you can have the best of all worlds from the modern city to the ancient temples.

It is just an amazing city where the modern world co-exist literally side by side with the traditional cuture and simple way of life. The people of Bangkok (and of the rest ofThailand) live in a fairly westernised routine of life while still holding on to the Thai beliefs, culture and customs.

The city of Bangkok has everything for the tourists - the sightseeing, the shopping - from the top class genuine brand name to the market for the bargain hunters, the vast variety of food, and the night life for all tastes. You will negotiate the maze of slow moving traffic into the intertown, over-the-speed-limit toll way among the hustle and bustle of the millions of people trying to make a day's living amidst the constant heat and sometime smoggy city from within the air conditioned comfort of your metered taxi (which seems to display an incredibly cheap fair for the distance you have been travelling)

There is a song that goes "One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble" (from the musical Chess). Once you have been there, you will understand why.

Look up the internet, find out about Bangkok then go there and be amazed!

It's nice for being such a chaotic place, the very definition of a concrete jungle, urban sprawl. Things are upside down. It's not so much of a place where different races mix, but it is a cosmopolitan city where foreigners are very evident. One gets all the luxuries of city living here, yet all the horrors as well. One can feel claustrophobic, suffocated and yet you can lap it all in. There is an interesting mix of old and new, in the temples and palaces as well as sky-scrapers and malls.

Well, not the noise or the traffic or the pollution but the people, the food, the temples and the entertainment for adults.
