No, it's too hard on a dog's kidneys. Call your vet either to get a prescription or to get the correct dosage for aspirin. Keep your dog comfortable.

Our son has two great Danes. The 5 yr. old has had knee surgery a couple years ago and now its taking its toll with arthritis. The vet has told him to give the dog one aspirin a day. Its really a riot because the dog has got smart to the aspirin he hides in treats...instead of the dog gulping the food down like it usually does, she now eats real slow and tries to spit it out.
I had an old dog that I took when my husbands Mom died. No one else wanted it and I could not bare the thought of getting rid of a dog that to me was like a member of the family. But she was so old and she hurt in the mornings and cried. I decided I would give her a aspirin a day and see what happened. It was unreal, within a half hour she would be bouncing around with no pain. So, until she died that's what I did every day.
Good luck and hopes this helps with your dog, we all know the bond we get with a dog.
PS
Our son just stopped by and I was telling him about your question and he said to tell you....and this sounds bizarre but the vet also told him they make cherry flavored dog treats that are expensive but they are very good for the dogs joints.
I also see I have received a thumbs down sign from someone, I am only telling you what the vet has told us to do and it helped significantly.

A lot of people do it, but the safety margin is very low, and a lot of dogs get pretty sick from it. You would be better off giving her one buffered adult aspirin (325 mg) once or twice a day with food. Good Luck!!

No tylenol can be toxic to dogs.
You can give regular asprin
the proper doseage for a dog is 1/4 tablet for every 10 pounds of body weight.
I give my 70 pound dog one tablet and if they still seem to be sore I will give another half.
Once in the am and once in the pm

No. Ask the vet what medications you can give her to ease her pain. You could also try a glucosomine supplement, but from the sounds of it you are just looking to ease her pain until she goes. Sorry to hear..

Beth T is right. Make it buffered aspirin. We use a small piece of cheese and coat the pill so our dog will swallow it.

no! she can have buffered asprin only. my choc. lab has been on this the last few years, for hip problems. tylenol will kill her. 325 mg, one tab./2x a day, make sure it's buffered so it won't upset her stomach, it will help.
