Yes...christians should be just that. Not baptist or catholic or lutheran, etc.
Satan does all he can to keep us divided. If 2 billion that believe, and we all united it would be the greatest force on earth. He doesnt want that! Jesus said "a kingdom divided among itself cannot stand"
He is right....surprised?
Blessings,
David

According to Adherents.com these are the top ten religions of the world:
Christianity: 2.1 billion
Islam: 1.3 billion
Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist: 1.1 billion
Hinduism: 900 million
Chinese traditional religion: 394 million
Buddhism: 376 million
primal-indigenous: 300 million
African Traditional & Diasporic: 100 million
Sikhism: 23 million
Juche: 19 million
Many different religions do worship God. Their God. They may call him by different names, but the great spirit is believed to exsist by many. Some believe in many Gods as well as the balance of many Goddesses. Some believe that they are all the same great spirit. Why not just one religion? Would you like to be told that you had to worship my Goddess and my God and had no other choice? I should hope not. I know I do not care to be expected to worship in something that I do not believe in nor would I expect anyone else to have to do the same.

There is just one religion in the world. It is called the Religion of God and it has been revealed to mankind progressively throughout history. During each religious age a new name is given to God's revelation like naming a new chapter in a book. One chapter is called Abraham's Revelation, another Hinduism, another Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and the Baha'i Faith, etc. All have revealed the Word of God in Books that constitute "The Religion of God".

God has told us how we are to live our lives..and so many people do not want to live the way that He has instructed, so they start other religions..that's why there can't be one religion..it seems like some have to find that "convenent religion" for themselves..one that fits them, rather than changing there life style. And God said not so..we are to be set apart from the world..not conform to the image of this world.

Jesus said worship God, you worship Jesus. Moses's followers rushed to worship the calf. This shows the disease amongst a lot of mankind to ignore what the Prophets said and follow their desires, this causes many religions. Hinduism was probably once monothiestic. All the Prophets from Adam and Muhammad had the same call, worship God alone and do not associate partners with him.

If there was only one religion, it would be either because we are all clones of eachother, or because there was an oppressive regime that forced us all to worship the same way. I would rather leave things the way they are in that sense.
I can have good fellowship with people of other Christian denominations, if they love God, love Jesus, and understand forgiveness. We don't have to be in the same movement.

Because the nature of man is to gravitate towards idolatry. To worship false Gods or to worship God in a false way.

Because people vary.
One answer:God spoke to everyone, a long time ago. Teachings have drifted.
Second answer:God's not involved. People figured some stuff out, and made up other stuff. The later stuff varies between religions.

We all need to eat, yet we all eat so many different ethnic cuisines. We all need transportation to get somewhere, yet we all use many different modes of transportation such as cars, bikes, horses, walking, flying, boats, and airplanes. We all need to speak in order to communicate and yet there are numerous different languages on this planet.
Sweetie, this is a very diverse world we live in. God is not going to just give us one incarnation (Jesus) and one path towards Him. We all are of different mental affinities and emotional temperments. Not everyone has the right attraction for Christianity. I myself grew up in Christianity, and I felt no attraction for this path even though I believed in a higher power and having high morals and values. I ended up practicing Hinduism because it felt right for me, for who I am.
I mean this is like saying that everyone must eat only American food, must only speak English, must only fly, must only dress a certain way, and so on. Surely God is not going to leave out the rest of the population that don't have attraction for Christianity. Religion has always existed before Jesus. He was not the first and nor is he the last. There have always been numerous of them, giving each generation equal opportunity to study and learn from a Master. Only Christianity is just over-glorified, giving it the impression that it is the right and only way towards God which is not.
All rivers lead to the same one ocean. Plus religion is a by-product of an individual's teachings. Jesus did not practice any particular religion. He only taught us many things to people of all kinds of backgrounds. There was no distinction on a person's beliefs. He was only there to show by example which had meaning and purpose for people of all walks of life and faiths.
Many enlightened souls that have incarnated to teach us about God, have never preached about religion. It was man that created religion based on an individual's teachings such as Buddhism after Buddha, Islam after the prophet Mohammed, and so on. Amma (Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi) is one such incarnation living right now that we all have access to just like one that had access to learn from Jesus or Buddha in the past. She does not preach any particular religion. Her teachings of love, selfless service and devotion to God are universal to all faiths and non-believers.
Really it is not important to have a religion, but what is really important is to have unconditional love for others, to be of service to humanity, and to have devotion towards God. These are the basic principles of spirituality and religion. It's a really simple concept. Religion is just something that is more specific giving us more meaning and purpose in our life, helping strengthen our relationship with God with greater faith.
