Many women don't base their opinions about a guy based on whether or not he can write a poem. It's a sweet thing to do depending on the female he's with. If the guy is a good poet then she'll probably would love it. If he's not good then she'd probably think that it's cheesy. So it basically depends on what type of woman she is.

Trying too hard isn't that bad but you are right about the cheesy part. If you are the guy forget about it and just be you. A sense of humor goes a whole lot farther than moldy cheese.

It really depends on the girl. Me personally, really the only thing that can count as a poem that i KNOW OF that has been written about me, is on the subject of how much i ruined his life, but, I do at the time have a boyfriend that loves me dearly, and does write things to me, and i love it. I can't wait to see what he says next. It makes me feel like he takes the time to do it, and actually thinks about me and he cares. I suggest you give it a try. personally, i would really love it. This probably won't really be any help. But it depends on the girl I think. Some girls will like them more than others. But if you can write a genuine sweet sounding love poem I don't think any girl can not love that no matter what they tell you they think of it.

Not all women like poems but a good stile of writing shows intelegance and I don't think that I have met a woman who wants a stupid guy.So like I said not all woman like or appreciate fine poetry but it is a good way to impress some one.It all depends on the woman.

The last poem writing guy I knew was the biggest flake. He drowned himself in self pity and could not hold on to a job longer than a month

Probably shouldn't chance it, big guy. Women don't want men to seem too emotional and sensitive. Most chicks want to have to work a little harder for a man's innermost thoughts and feelings, otherwise he can come off as needy, or seem too much like one of their female friends. It might be appropriate if you've been together for a long time already, and it's a special occasion like her birthday or something. But if you just blurt out emotions that she wasn't looking for, you'll freak her out.

so women are into it.I know I am but some girls are too stupid to understand the deep maning of a poem and don't care for them.But if your girl or woman likes poems just say everthing from the heart and it will be perfect.

If you're into poetry, be you and find someone who can appreciate it. Don't write a poem if that's not your thing. And if the girl laughs at you for being you, she's not worth your time.

I would love for my hubby to put ANY effort into our relationship. If I got a poem I'd probably drop dead of shock!!
Anyway, I think poems are very sweet!
