Today I saw a typical (I think) painter's canvas with a picture on it that was abviously taken by a camera. How is that done?

Go to an office store and look for the special canvas paper that goes into your printer. It may be hard to find -- try online, also, and it's expensive, but that's the only way I can think of other than painting it. ;-)

You can print a digital image directly onto canvas that is specifically designed for digitial photo printers like epson. Check at a good photo store or high end computer store.

I get transfers to make T shirts form digital photos. You can iron these on to any fabric that can withstand heat. Canvas would be very heat resistant.

I think that they are called T shirt transfers. Good luck.
