Like the title I bought it, test drove 4 others and needed a car with good mpg which is reliable. It seems the car is underrated and devalues alot on miles. I didn't test drive the corolla nor jetta. Has anyone driven all 3 cars and which one the liked the best. Heck, I should I just bought a focus with 40k miles for 5k, my mistake! Ive got 18k on the car so far with no problems at all ( besides drag and weak sound from the radio ), Im only getting 29 mpg, and once i hit 32 mpg. Also note this is city driving and with the a/c blowing. But i do not get better or worse mpg no matter how i drive either I floor or drive conservative same mpg. engine is surprising, it feels as much power as my 3.8l 2004 impalla, I was shocked! but anyway, please give out some suggestions whether my buy was good or not. I paid 12,000. Before taxes and such and was new. Thanks!

I Love the Focus ! It is a very good value, well built, & FUN to drive. The fuel economy & low emissions are a great bonus too.

Although it's a little late for you to be having 2nd thoughts, or regrets about not doing enough research, you can rest assured that you made a good decision.
The Jetta, although more powerful would have cost you A LOT more money, and is (understandably) less fuel efficient
The Corolla is less powerful & more fuel efficient.

I did a little comparison, myself, to check my facts. You can click the link below for my references. I've been in the car business since 1983 & often research many vehicles.

I hope this helps justify your decision. Enjoy your Focus!

I like the Corolla because it has 180HP and gets better MPG plus its has more room in it My friend has the 2006 model. And I test drove the 2005 Chevy cobalt and that car is faster than the Corolla and it also handles better as well. I cant tell you any thing about the Jetta but my neighbor has a Pessat and he hates it he bought the car used from the dealer and he has had to replace all the engine mounts both the CV joints, radiator alternator, cooling fan and he needed front struts all was covered under warranty but my point is that the car has bean in the shop More than its bean in his driveway.

This is not a bad deal... The Focus is a great economy car that get fairly good gas mileage to find anything much better than that you would need to be looking at a VW Jetta Diesel or possibly a hybred car which is quiet expensive with the exception of the Saturn Vue Greenline sells for less than $20000

Ford offers some great vehicles, and this is a good economy car. Cheap, easy on gas, and reliable. I haven't yet seen too many of these come into the shop with problems other than people doing dumb things ( i.e: running into stuff, lol). You did just fine in terms of the price you paid, going off of what i know about your vehicle. Since i don't know specifics, i'd say you did just fine. The reason it feels as strong is because it is soooooo much lighter. They do "get up and go" as i'd like to say, but they have nothing on the 3.8's that gm makes.

about the only thing to watch for is strange rear tire wear, they have revised the alignment specs to correct this.
also a PUROLATOR BRAND NAME, P/N F65277,fuel filter should not be use if it has a build date on filter before 06/06 as it wont connect properly
good luck

2007 Corolla with auto/air/pw/pdl are going for $11900 here.... you got ripped off. FORD sucks. They get horrible gas mileage and will cost you arm and a leg when they die around 100,000 miles (if you're lucky.... ours died @ 30,000 miles).

You're stuck with it though... because you couldn't give it away on the used car market.
