Mom has stage 3 OvCa. Looking for anything you may have done beyond chemo (in addition to) that helped you out so I can tell her. Thanks!

My best friend survived ovarian cancer, I am sorry I don't know the stage but it was visable to the naked eye at surgery so it was not microscopic. It has been about two years now. She kept good nutrition and tried to keep good general health. She was a social worker but gave herself permission to give the job up and concentrate on herself. If you can't do it at that time when can you do it? I am also a stage three survivor of cervical cancer.

The National Cancer Institute Stages for ovarian cancer has defined Stage III of this disease as under:

"Stage III: Cancer is found in one or both ovaries and has spread to lymph nodes or other body parts within the cavity, such as the surfaces of the liver or intestines."

The treatment for any cancer any grade or any stage is simple and same they are- surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. By all these treatments we can only extend the date but not cure the disease completely and it will surface again. We have to fight it till the last as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA.

My since wishes for your mother-

Ovarian cancer is a pain.
It is rarely caught until the end, in the final stages. Also, it shows no real symptoms until the end.

I don't know about anyone that I know who's survived it.
