I was 49 when I decided to get braces. After 20 months of treatment, I have straight teeth! My braces have been off for one month and I wear a retainer when I sleep. Like you, I did not have proper dental care as a child.
First go to a dentist to get a good checkup and have any cavities filled. Also schedule an appointment for a cleaning. Your dentist can probably refer an orthodontist or ask some teenagers who they go to.
Schedule a consultation with an orthodontist. Consultations are usually free. You will find out all your options and set up a payment schedule.
Don't put it off any longer. You will have some pain and discomfort at first, but you will quickly adjust. Eating is quite an adjustment.
You will be amazed at how quickly your teeth start moving. The time will fly by. You will be so glad you made this decision. Call a dentist on Monday, schedule an appointment, and plan to get braces in January. What a wonderful New Years resolution - straight teeth. Good luck!

Get a referral to an orthodontist from your dentist. Then go to the orthodontist for a consultation--they are usually no charge. I think it is great that you want to get braces. It is very common for adults to have braces these days. I think you would be very happy with the results. Good luck!

You're not too old for braces as long as you take care of your teeth and don't have any gum disease. I've seen people in their 60's with braces. Go for it! You will be happy!
Talk to your dentist and they will give you a referral to an orthodontist to discuss your options.

I had braces as a child, and I am really glad I did!! I like my smile!! My parents had braces when they were in their late 60's, and I have friends in their 20's and 30's who have them now. If you have crooked teeth, it's a good idea-- you will look better and smile more, which may make you more successful, and you will have better dental/oral health because you will be able to keep your teeth and in between your teeth cleaner. Go for it, and Good Luck!!

My mom got braces when she was 36 and she has the prettiest teeth EVER!!!! if u dont want to get braces, you can alawasy use the invisiline braces. They dont work as good as braces, but they are invisible, which is an advantage!

Go with Invisalign instead of braces. It doesn't hurt one bit at all, being that there is not shots, no metal. I'm using Invisialign right now, and have been for one month now, and just in this one month, I can already feel a difference.

ask your general dentist if you're ready for braces and then make an appointment to see an orthodontist. I'm 26 and am just starting them.
