Full moon party - Koh Phangan
The Full Moon Party started with a few backpackers raving on Haad Rin Nok in the late 80's. They danced in the magnificent moonlight and more a more people turned up every month. Nowadays there are about 6000-14000 participants who are having a good time and dancing to techno, trance, drum n' bass, psychedelic, jungle, disco, hardcore and other dance music tunes. Skilled dj's deliver the beats from the restaurant at Haad Rin Nok and from the beach.

Saturday 03 February 2007
Saturday 03 March 2007

Wednesday 02 May 2007
Thursday 31 May 2007
Friday 29 June 2007

Beware of drugs
Unfortunately this party sometimes has been associated, with some drug abuse. Even young people can be sentenced to a long time in prison if they are arrested with drugs on them, or even having it in the blood. Both uniformed and undercover police officers are ready to intervene if they suspect drug trafficking or that people are under influence of narcotics.

Your best bet is to simply go to Koh Samui (a great Island - easy to fly to from Bangkok via Bangkok Airways). Get a hotel etc. there (try many online hotel web sites like Passionasia.com, Thaihotels, Asiarooms.com....). THen from Koh Samui - there are countless tour operators (on the beach, hotels, sidewalk shops everywhere) who offer boat services to nearby Koh Phangan.

You go there for the all-night party and come back early the next morning with everyone else (this is what 95% of people do). Koh Samui has more nightlife and things to do - Koh Phangan is rustic and really only good for the Full-Moon party 1 nite per month. - But if you really want - book 1 night hotel there for the full moon party only (but I think the hotel rates go up for that night!) Have fun.

I suggest you go to Koh Samui and stay there for a night, then go to Koh Phangan by a boat and come back to Samui after the full moon party is over early morning. I do not suggest you book an accommodation at Koh Phangan as it gets really expensive on full moon night. The best is to stay at Koh Samui, go to Phangan till early morning and come back to Samui. You will also have more things to do at Samui. There are many hotels and resorts at Samui ranging from cheap ones to more expensive luxury ones. Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach are the best places to stay in Koh Samui. I can recommend few cheap, nice 3 star accommodation such as Orchid Suites on Lamai Beach and First Bungalow Beach Resort on Chaweng Beach. Check out www.excelloz.com for more information on hotels in Koh Samui. You can get a good description of the hotels and reviews from other people so that the opinions are unbiased.

You're gonna love theFull moon party. Things are cheap there. More than likely you'll fly in to Bangkok and you can take a bus or train from there. Then a boat ride across to Koh Phangan.

Just BE CAREFUL and do not get caught with any drugs. They will take you down hard for a drug charge.

Other than that 1000's of drunk peeps on the beach with tons of great music.

i change into living there many years. at the same time as there's a fool moon celebration in koh phangan there'll be many many speed boat at large Buddha Pier an Bophud pier leaving each hours from the previous due afternoon all nighttime. the speed boat will take about 15-20 minutes to bypass there. also locate a range of of taxi utilising from Choeng Mon to the piers that nigh. on the pier they are going to attempt to promote you a go back cost tag. I advise you to purchase purely one way cost tag so that you're extra loose to go back once you want. the subsequent morning there'll be many boat to go back Samui besides and in case you're taking the great boat at 10am that is likewise more less expensive. do not carry too a lot funds there, purely the right volume for the nighttime and produce your passport. leave at your hotel probability-free any valuables because in finished moon celebration there are a determination of drunken human beings and also you under no circumstances understand. besides i have been there few situations and it change into great. there are a determination of police there, that why is a truly probability-free position to loiter round. Have a chilled

Hotel rates definitely go up during the full moon party. i would also recommend to book ahead as the good places to stay will go quickly. The full moon party is on sun rise beach so i would recommend staying on Sunset beach as you are away from the noise and only a short walk away from the party. Not sure on pools though!
There are lots of drugs about so just be aware of them around you! Like in the rest of Thailand Thai food is always much cheaper and nicer than English/American food. The beach on Sun rise is very nice, but stay away from it the day after the full moon as there will be rubbish everywhere. Also during the full moon party make sure you wear something on your feet to avoid cigarettes and broken glass!
