The fight for world control then and now : the Romans led by their emperor where trying to rule the world,forcing it to adopt and to practice the democratic constitution inherited from the Greeks.The Church led by Jesus-Christ used the Gospel to make the world a better place to live before heaven.The Romans force the nations to adopt their lifestyle of war,plunder and exploitation while the Christians use the gentle power of the Holy Spirit to convince people to adopt a righteous life.The Westerners under Roman's influence had two Choices:to abandon the wicked way of the romans and to reflect the image of God by practicing the Gospel.But the people and theirs leaders chose to twist the Gospel in order to rob powerless nations using the Church as a cornerstone for capitalism.The Roman empire rebuilt in a spiritual form using the Church as its stepping stone will be called the USA: the people who sit in God's throne.

I don't believe it is specifically the "Romans" that God considers the only ones that "pierced" Jesus. Look at Zec 12:10¶And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn.
So we look again at Rev.
Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
We all nailed him to that cross. It was yours and my sins that caused him to go to the cross as well. And since "every" eye will see him, it could also mean the original men that pierced his hands and feet and side. Even those in heaven and in hell are included in "every". Just a thought.
