Yep I definatley know what your going through. I got diagnoised with hypo thyroid in april, probably would have found out earlier but i hated going to the doctor after my first child was born.. The dreaded Scale lol... I am currrently on Synthroid the little blue pill .15 mg and am going to the doctor next week to get it bumped up some. When i was first put on sythroid back in april it was .1 and i felt so much better. No more cold hands, headaches, dry skin and much more energy but my levels changed and they upped the dose. Then they put me on .15 and i felt great again but now i'm getting the same symptoms back again. Your levels will constantly flucuate it really sucks and taking this for the rest of your life sucks too lol. Just make sure you take this 1 hour before you eat or 2-3 after you eat. Some people told me 30 mins would be ok but that is not the case. Some days you'll feel great and theres others where you'll feel not so great. Just try and get your levels checked every few months to adjust your dosage. Also even if your blood work lvls come back in the normal range and you feel you still feel bad then have them up your dosage till you do. Good luck to ya.!!!

I've been taking hormones for an underactive thyroid since the late 80's. I was started on Synthroid, but have been given generics also. Currently it's the Levothyroxine. I generally take it before bed with one of my other prescriptions (for other disorders unrelated to thyroid). It should be taken 1 hr before meals or at least 2 hrs after a meal. I don't notice any difference in my metabolism. I've had no trouble with the meds at all.

It is very normal. 80% of women have a thyroid problem, including myself. I have been on Synthroid for 14 years. It's no big deal. Just take your meds everyday and it won't be an issue. Mine started with a fluid filled cyst in my thyroid. It was drained, I went on the medication and it disappeared.
I take my meds in the morning with some OJ. Don't take the pill with a multivitamin. It will counteract the effectiveness of the medication. Allow 4 hours before or after to take the multivitamin.
Being on Synthroid didn't speed up my metabolism at all. I had no side effects at all.
It won't be any big deal at all.

IT might be best that you ask your doctor the question about what would be the best time to take your tablet. I find it difficult to believe that 80% of women have a thyroid problem. I have been looking after women with hypothroidism for years and they havnt had any problems with the prescribed treatment. There is a website you can go to that will give you some information on the medication www.drugs.com , all you have to do is type in the generic name ( usually the long name) of the drug and it will give you the side effects. But any further questions, you should ask your doctor, thats why they are doctors :)

I also have the same problem with my thyroid. It has been like that for the last 25 years and I take meds for it also. Sometimes I get tired out and then a blood test is done to up the meds. It is no big problem that I ever had. Don`t worry you will be fine and going to the V.A. for your health is a big plus. Good luck!

I take Levothyroxine every morning, and when I first started taking it,some 10 years ago,I noticed an increase in energy level, but that was partly because of the low energy I was experiencing, due to the Thyroid problem I understand I'll be required to take it for the remainder of my life as well, and I see no major problems with that...

It's a safe drug. I've been on it for 5 years now. Occassional blood tests to monitor the levels are necessary to get the best dosage. Too much can be as bad as not enough. Take one daily with water about 1 hour before food.

same situation here, I am on Levothroid. Take your medicine 30 minutes before eating anything in the morning. Dont take it with any dairy or vitamins containing iron. they will change the absorption of the medicine. You can expect to feel more energy and more "up" days. If you dont take it when you're supposed to, you just feel tired all day and you feel like you dont want to do anything.
