If the doctor finds out you have appendicitis how soon should it be taken out? My BF has it, and they have not taken it out, and he went to the hospital over a month ago, and they still have not taken it out. they have just been making him come in at night time to do tests. they have had him come in at least 14 nights. Are they stupid?

For the person who said it is me that is stupid. I did not call the doctor stupid. I was just asking if people thought that the situation is stupid. And for one thing they told him that fur sure it is Appendicitis, and they have not even given him the medicine for minor Appendicitis. And I am not stupid. I do know some stuff about medicine and things. I am going to become a Physician Assistant. I am just asking the opinions of other people.

Okay, what a stupid doctor. My appendicitis went undetected too long, and I almost died from peritonitis, when is basically when gangrene sets up in the abdominal cavity. I had to have a bowel re-section because I ended up losing part of it.

No, the doctor's are not stupid. Alot of times a person can have the symptoms of Appendicitis and the symptoms can be treated by medication rather than removal. The doctors could be running these tests to determine how extreme the appendicitis is or to rule something else out all together. I no it's not easy, but it's best to let the doctor's do their job and wait for the outcome. Good Luck and I hope your friend feels better soon.

Super stupid and ignorant. Maybe they think it might not be appendicitis. They don't want to do any unnecessary surgery. Approach his doctor and get some answers. I would think they would perform the appendectomy just in case he does. Better save than sorry. your best bet would be to talk to his doctor and get some answers.

If your boyfriend is not running a fever, his white count is within parameter and his urine checks out, he may have a bowl infection, a stomach infection, something else. The doctors aren't stupid, they're cautious.
What would you do if they took out his appendix and to weeks later he was sick but from, say a kidney stone that was masking itself, how much would you sue the doctors for? so you see the real problem is you, and you and you. for all these lawsuits. They make the doctors Leary, very cautious.
That's one reason I stayed in a lab and stopped my education there, it isn't worth it.
