It should say on the bottom if it is ovensafe. The thick glass like Pyrex is made of is perfectly fine for the oven. Glass melts at much higher temperatures than your oven will ever reach. Very thin glass can shatter, though.

Sure, you can put a glass dish in the oven to cook in. It would take much higher temperatures than your oven can get to in order to melt glass. And, provided that you don't take your glass dish out of the freezer or refrigerator and immediately put it into the hot oven, it won't break. Hope this helps!

Check the bottom of the dish. It should say whether or not it is oven proof.

It's really difficult to melt glass, unless you have a nuclear oven, but if it is an antique glass dish or something that is not oven-proof, it could shatter.

It depends! If it is tempered glass (ie: Pyrex) or other, yes, ti's fine. If it is in a casserole shape and sold as an oven-safe dish, it's probably ok.

If it's a decorative platter that is glass, probably not. It own't melt, but will crack into 2 or more pieces.

Most newer glass dishes will take higher heats. 350 to 375 is safe. Many of the older glass dishes are only good up to 325. If you've bought it in the past few years, you're safe at the higher heats. Never broil with a glass pan, only bake.
