I have tried the Beta Version of Windows Vista. Its pretty cool but still very similar to XP with a bit more user friendly. But you will need a very good system to run Vista.

I have RC2, a have had vista up and running since june. Beta 2 was slow and unstable, RC1 was amazingly better and I cant tell the difference between RC1 and RC2.
RC2 is more stable than RC1 but the drivers are not, which makes it less stable on my computer. As far as comparing to XP, its a whole new breed. It is faster than XP it does not use Xp's kernal they basically started from scratch. which means that its faster, more reliable, and more Secure. not to mention many numerous other features.
The start menu has been greatly improved.
The Gui is incredibly nice.
but programs are not all compatible just yet. the compatibility fixer has gotten better with each version and they removed some 2000 bugs out of RC2's code before production.
It is stable enough to live with now but I will enjoy the RTM.
To go to RTM the code must have fewer than 500 bugs.
although that sounds big I know they have less than that in the RTM. and whats left will be found before its shipped and when the computers connect to the Internet for the first time the code will be fixed.
X64 vista, same as X64 windows except even less things are compatible with it.

I have used a beta version RC1 and 2. It worked great, looks great, suppose to have great security features. But it wasn't compatible with any of my programs. Such as Roxio media creator 9, Norton Internet Security 2006, and many more.
