Yes, that's pretty much the type of OCD that I have, because I don't have any of the typical compulsive actions. The reassuring thing about the more disturbing O's that people with OCD get (fear of hurting others, themselves, the more violent thoughts) are never acted upon. It's more about your brain getting hooked on a thought like, "Wow. I could so easily jump in front of that train. Nothing to physically stop me." And suddenly, the fear builds--what if you can't stop yourself from jumping?
Or things like--I'm standing next to this person. What if I suddenly lose my mind and attack/rape them?
It's more a fear that you won't be able to control yourself in situations where there is nothing stopping you from doing horrible things (which is pretty much all the time). And the obsession feeds on that fear, it's like a broken record. That's what pure O is about--the mind fixating on a horrible thought and fearing that you could act it out. In those without OCD, that thought might occur, but it just passes.
People who also do the C part of OCD are acting out compulsions on less violent thoughts--fear of germs, fear of being late, fear of accidentally doing someone harm.
I hope this helps. I often find that long-term stress brings on my OCD and I can't get through anything without meds. Honestly, don't rule out meds if things begin to interfere with life AT ALL.

I have OCD and have suffered with it for over 30 years.. I actually wrote a book about it http://www.attackanxiety.com and I also have recorded a great CD with all the answers to every question you might have. You can find it here: http://www.cafepress.com/stevendiamond.18616054

I hope this helps. There is no cure for OCD however you can learn to manage it and eventually live a normal and productive life just like me.
I wish you well on your journey to wellness.

well, i have ocd, but i also have other things on top of it. i handle the OCD itself without meds because i didnt want any more meds. i have certain things i HAVE to do at certain times, and i have to follow a schedule in a way. but it's managable. the hardest part is gettin other ppl to deal with it, but i'm engaged to my g/f of 6 years, so she's pretty used to it.
