problem with talking.?

I can talk to people just fine its just what i normally talk about and what they talk about seem to be two different things. My friends like to talk about cars and the school they are in and what they have done and i dont know where to really join in to talk about anything or really what to talk about. most of the time when i do talk my older brother will come in and basically bust in and take the conversation or tell me that i have no idea what im talkin about.
so where should it all begin?

axually these friends knew my older brother first but i consider them my friends too because most of them hang out with me as much as him and are my age not his. but one of them in particular likes to go around (like my older brother) and tell people to basically not talk to me so i get mad.

Maybe you should ask people questions about things that you also have an opinion on and then you can build a conversation from there. Don't be shy, remember you have friends so there must have been something you had in common with them in order to become friends in the first place.
