I will first let you know that plants cannot live past a couple hundred meters deep because there is no light beyond that depth. Plants require light to live and therefore will not live below the maximum depth that light will penetrate. Also there are very few plants in the ocean. Kelp is not a plant it is a type of algae.

As far as animals go the depth is important. On the very deep ocean floor there are a lot of small detritus feeders and at thermal vents there are odd organisms that actually are chemoautotrophic and use hydrogen sulfide as the main energy source for their environment, and not light

Additional info:

Alright so there are not any plants in that deep of water.
The source of energy for those kind of environments are organisms from above the zone, which have the basic energy source as light and also hydrogen sulfide as I previously mentioned.

Here is some information about thermal vents. The area around the vents is extremely hot, in excess of 105 degrees celcius. Hydrogen sulfide that is leaked out of the vent is used by bacteria and is converted to energy. Hydrogen sulfide is extremely poisonous to animals and there is an interesting animal that has adapted to deal with this issue. The animal is the tube worm and in its gut is a organ called a trophosome that houses the bacteria that use the hydrogen sulfide to make energy. However, since the hydrogen sulfide is poisonous to the worms cells what is has done is adapted to have a circulatory system that carries the hydrogen sulfide on hemoglobin to the trophosome. Also around the deep sea vents are some crabs, and other small crustacean type organisms. An important part of the life cycle of these animals is the possession of a larva. The vents can close up at any time and will reopen nearby. These organisms do not survive in cool water so the larva disperses to other vents when the vent that their parent organism resided closes up.

Away from the deep sea vents the deep sea ground dwelling organisms are small detritus feeders such as rotifers, crustaceans and some worms etc. Just above the deep sea floor are fish that have a hypercarnivorous appearance. These fish have enlarged jaws because every opportunity to feed on something is very important as the next opportunity to feed may be a long time down the road. These fish have very sensitive chemical sensing organs that are used to sense for food. Ex: Viperfish, anglerfish. These organisms also have odd modes of reproduction. For example the large type of anglerfish is the female. Males are much smaller. When a male finds a female he will fuse to her so that they can reproduce and so that he will not lose her.

The further up you go in the deep sea zone (to lower depths) the less the hypercarnivorous character that the organisms have.
Also a major characteristic of these fish is that they have weak flabby muscles becuase they do not get enough food to support large muscles for their whole life. (This is an adaptation so no matter how much food a deep sea fish will get they wil still have weak flabby muscles.)

Also the deep sea fish have red eyes or reduced eyes. Red eyes are supposed to detect light better and reduced eyes are present as the eyes at a certain depth may be useless so it is not worth it to make large eyes for light detection.

Other animals include: Gulpers (fish), Ogrefish, many types of squid, chimaeras, coelocanths, lobsters.
