You will not be given a general anesthesia, just a local and medicine to relax you, Risk for this surgery is extremely low. Ask your doc about details so you can be totally comfortable. It is definetly worth having. Had it 20 yrs. ago (an implant.) Still just fine. I was very young for cataract surg, doc thought it could be from spending so much time on the beach. So, go for it.
