Especially on a first date?

Yes, and its also very rude to expect you to come when they honk their horn in front of your house. Stay away from such creatures, they will beat you once your committed to them.

I think it is rude especially after dark Of course, it might be safer depending on what kind of date the person is but if the date was a normal, safe person, it would be nice to be walked to the door.

There would have to be some pretty special reason. I would want my date to be interested enough in my safety to make sure that I was safe inside the house before leaving. Plus, if he doesn't walk me to the door, he misses out on a hug (or something else).

I don't expect the guy to walk me to the door, but I definitely expect him to wait on the driveway to make sure that I get in the door. What if I dropped my keys on the floor of his car? What if a psychotic killer is waiting in the bushes beside my house? It's his manly duty to make sure I get in okay.

Yeah...they should walk you all the way to the door unless you insist it's not necessary or desired...and they should wait until you've unlocked the door and opened it, before they walk away to be sure you are able to get inside safely.

Yes, I think so. If he's not that old-fashioned type of guy, he should at least wait until you get into your house before driving off.

I still prefer him to go to the door though.

That is a 40s & 50s kind of thing . . . if that is what you are after, then be more selective about the next guy you date . . . be specific that you are looking for the 'old school' etiquette guys, tell them before you go out, because lots of girls might consider it chauvenistic.
There are tooooo many different kinds of girls for guys to have them all figured out . . . let them know in advance if you have those expectations.

Not to me. I would not want them to. Too easy to push you into the house and take advantage. What I consider proper is for them to wait at the car and make sure you got in OK, then leave.

That's just me, I've had some creepy dates in the past.

Absolutely! It shows respect for him to walk you to the door.
