The metal the blade is made out of goes to the end of the hilt, giving more strength then a partially tanged blade.

The tang is the part of the sword that goes into the handle. If the blade and the tang are all one piece and the tang goes all the way to the end of the handle then its a full tang sword.

the reason the sword is better if it goes through the hilt all the way ,, like a chisel the full tang can be pounded into something safely without a problem but the half tang will split and the force of a blow can be transfered into the handle to the arms of the artist instead of the weapon

It means that the sword goes all the way to the handle and a be used to fight. Others like half tang can use to demonstrate but it can't really fight and no tang means that its just for show.
