I have a new laptop and I had the McAfee virus scan on my computer when i bought it. Someone said that norton was better so they downloaded it instead onto my computer. I don't like norton, because it interferes with the programs i use everyday. Is there any way I can possibly retrieve the file, is there any way to get the Mcafee back without buying it again in stores? because i cant find it anywhere on my computer i think he deleted it......i'm pissed please help.

If you have the original software package that come with the computer you should be able to pop that into the cd drive thru the menu that comes up you should be able to navigate to an install feature that usually will give you the oppertunity to install specific parts of the original software.

McAfee came with my PC and after a while I switched to Norton. I have no problem with it. I hope you will take the time to carefully examine all Norton's options and settings. You might find the problem there.

There should be a way for you to tell Norton to allow programs you specify.

if the laptop is new and oyu have not done much else you could always recover the hard drive takes aobut a hour and reinstalls all the software that came with it to start with. but i will say i think mcafee is buggy and unstable if you dont like norton you may want to try system suite or system mecanic or even defender pro all good programs though i think i find system suit the most user friendly.

Since this is a new notebook, you will have the recovery CD as well as one more CD for the programs, you can get back the McAfee program from the CD

system restore
take out anything that you have put in after removing mcafee
then go all programs/accessories /system tools/system restore
pick a date to restore to and do it.
but i must stess the point that any programs put in after the date you choose must be removed first.
or they will be still in program list but wont work.

you may reinstall. once you install a software it places entries in the registry. The registry is each thing in homestead windows. in case you have not have been given the suitable entries in the registry then a software won't artwork right.
