Sorry for the misspelling. I was not asking for what the law really is. I'm asking what YOU think should happen to him.

He should NOT be denied health care. His children who have not been shot should not be denied health care either. But as soon as it is discovered that he is in the country illegally, he should be deported.

We already provide emergency care for anyone in this country. I do beleive someone besides tax payers should be held responsible for the payment. It's one thing to provide medical care for 1 birth, but it's getting insane when they can shoot them out one after another and we're expected to foot the bill. I can be a citizen walking home from work and get shot by an illegal and get treated in the hospital and then that hospital can come and take my home, if need be, for payment ,if I don't have insurance. I can't sue the illegal coz they're long gone and using another identity. Where's the justice in that ,while they're buying homes and fancy trucks and just using a different name card? There have been illegals that have had handicapped children and they get treatment some of our own citizens can't afford. Some have even had fertility drugs sent to them here from Mexico and we're footing the bill for multiple births. I mean enough already.

I recently checked on moving to canada 4 many different reasons.. do you know what I was told. I had to live there 3 years before I could be a legal citizen..no help of any kind..no financial aid, no medical, no housing assistance, NOTHING for 3 years..then I could apply for residency and get everything..So if I move to Canada and get hurt, do you think they will treat me FREE...yeah right.. I was recently in the hospital here. Before they would admit me (I was suicidal) they ran my medical card to see if would cover it..If not, I was out of luck...I would have had to pay at least 5 days up front at $ 1300 a day.. How is that for fair.. Unfortunately doctors take a oath to save lives and yes, the hospitals would save his life and taxpayers would pay the bill..if it were an American..they would bill us and we would have to pay every dime of it...welcome to the US

Try spell check next time...illegal, immigrants, scenario, health
All hospitals in the US must give medical treatment, it's a law. When someone has been shot, they lose a lot of blood, and usually are unconscious...how will the hospital ask them if they are insured? Many insured Americans do not carry their insurance cards with them. By the way I'm guessing José didn't speak English well, how did he make that phone call? No HUMAN BEING should ever be denied healthcare!!!! If you change that name to Francios, would you still want to deny him?

Over 12 hospitals have been forced to shut down in California due to illegals using emergency rooms as clinics and not paying the bill. As screwed up as this country is an illegal can actually sue the hospital if they refuse to treat them. So these hospitals treated them until they went bankrupt then the 1000's of people working there lost their jobs when the hospitals closed down. First, an illegal should not have the right to sue anyone because they're here illegally. Second, any illegal should ONLY be given EMERGENCY health care not clinic care, and then should be deported as soon as they're better. Not to mention they should not be given welfare, food stamps, school tuition, or jobs.

It's interesting how many selfish people are out there. All the answers against Illegals getting health care are on the basis that one does not want to take responsibility. No one has the right to let someone die if the resources are there. Our taxes are spent in so many different ways that many times we might not approve, but we have no choice, they take them out for one reason or another.

Of course he shouldn't, however, he is no better than anyone else...the hospital bill should be paid. If he refuses or 'cannot' pay the bill he should be convicted in a court of law for stealing and be forced to work off his dept to the American Society he was about to rip off. After he repays his debt he should be promptly deported because after all he is illegal.

I don't think anyone is denied emergency health care especially a victim of a crime like a shooting or stabbing.

But after surgery and healing, he's still an illegal. That doesn't change.

He should get the operation and Mexico should be charged for the bill. Whether Mexico wants to pay the bill because he has Mexican health insurance or whether Jose should have to pay the bill out of his own pocket is up to Mexico. Deportation should also happen- as DAR said- after he stabilizes.

Your scenario is the reason that there is only one trauma center in L.A. now, when there were 5 of them 10 years ago.
A doctor in an emergency room is not going to refuse to treat a gunshot victim, so the point is moot.

no one should be denied emergency health care. but health care in general ? yes they should not receive what we cannot. And one more thing.....i do not think senators or congressmen should have better health care than the average American...which is usually none. most of them make over a 100 grand and should buy their own health insurance. it just grinds my *** to know my taxes pay for them to have something i can't even afford.
