He was born in California but when he was around the age of 8 he, his mother and step-father moved to Indiana so Jeff could start racing.

The only Nascar driver that I know of who was born in Indiana was Tony Stewart...and Tony still lives there!

I can't stand people who say he was born in Indiana. They are as stupid as it gets. He was born in Vallejo California and then moved to Indiana at about the age of 8 to have a better chance to be a racer.

When he was racing open wheel, he was listed as being from "Pittsboro, Indiana." When he hit big in NASCAR, all of a sudden it was more cool to be from California (which as the others said, is where he was actually born).
