"I tell people all the time, Liquor doesn't exactly have a 'Shelf-life', it has more like a 'Half-life'. All the aging and maturing is done after the Distillation and Filtering processes and, once bottled, it is considered to be a finished product. It won't mature in the bottle like some wines, and it won't go 'bad' like most Beers. As long as you keep it from extreme heat and cold it'll be drinkable long after we're both gone."

I had a bottle that was older than that (about 20 years old), with an unbroken seal. It was GREAT, even better than a new bottle. I have to say that Gin isn't that great no matter what. Just remember this phrase I learned while tending bar... "warm gin tastes a lot like lighter fluid." Shaking it, or bruising it, will make it taste a little better.

As long as the bottle is still sealed it's as good as it ever was. If it's been opened it might have aquired flavours from where it was stored. All liquors are distilled. If it's not cloudy and still tastes like juniper it's good.

If anything is has mellowed. I have drank 20 year old Scotch and 125 year old brandy.
