Firstly "Marry" Christmas hasn't never been used by anyone.
However, "Merry Christmas" has NOT been used for centuries--it didn't become widespread until the latter half of the 19th century.
Also, no-one complains about it--the fact that many people choose to say "happy holidays" (a phrase that has alway co-existed with merry Christmas) doesn't in any way prevent people from saying whatever they want.
The whole non-issue has been invented by a bunch of intolerant, paranoid idiots, and perpetuated by people who can't be bothered to check things out for themselves.
Merry Christmas!

Those who have an agenda, will find a vehicle for that agenda.
On the other hand, I don't see how Happy Holidays is any better or worse.
Christmas -- derives from "Christ's Mass"
Holidays -- derives from "Holy Days".
I guess Holidays would be more inclusive to Judaism, but it is not usually Jews that are complaining.

People are trying to get on the much overrated "Political Correctness" bandwagon. Somewhere some suit and tie guy decided it was wrong to talk normal. If I am a gay, black dwarf who is Jewish, Now, I am a alternative life styled African American height challenged person who nobody can say Merry Christmas to. It's ridiculous.

Because the term refers to the christian holiday, and only a percentage of the population is christian. You can make it much simpler and less offensive by simply saying 'happy holidays', which applies to everyone. To continue saying Merry Xmas after knowing the reason why shows your lack of consideration for anyone who doesn't want to acknowledge or celebrate a religious holiday when they aren't of that religion.

Hello?
The expression is 'MERRY' not Marry - one is to be cheerful, the other is to be joined in matrimony . . .
I am not aware that this expression is 'offensive' to anyone. . . and yes, it has been used for many years by Americans . . . who is complaining about it?
Perhaps you would do well to rent/see the movie titled
The Christmas Carol . . . starring a character named Scrooge. . .
That may give you some insight to this dilemma you seem to be having . . .
Happy Holidays!!!!

This is a terrible time to get wed if you are Christian. Your friends and relations will be frantically buying gifts and planning how they will worship over this most holy of times.
If you are not a Christian, it's as good a time as any!
I doubt if anyone is offended by when you get married.

If you're talking the mother of Jesus, "Mary" then I see the problem. But if you are talking "merry" as in merriment, then there should be no more problem with that, than saying a hearty, "Happy Hanukkah!"
