Hi Jazseven1,

Why not, I see a brownie as a more advanced and elaborate form of cookie, and if I were there, I would be glad to see your inovative addition.

Live on the edge, and think outside the bun. If you want to do it, . . . .do it, and rather than think of it as a contradiction, view it as a constructive contribution. . . . .you got my vote!

Typically no. The entire point of a cookie exchange is to spread the holiday cookies around to more people by everyone making one kind of cookie and getting several kinds back. Brownies wouldn't be an appropriate exchange cookie, for a number of reasons. Typically all the cookies people bring in are "Holiday" themed cookies and brownies don't fit that mold too well. Secondly there is a bit of a "sweat factor" involved. Some of the folks I work with go to great lengths to produce fine, complex cookies which really display their baking talents, brownies are a bit of a let down from that, yeah?

I participate in a cookie exchange at work every year and we have a great time with it. This year I'm making window sandwich raspberry cookies (like a tea cookie), and spiced whoopees - not that hard, and better received than Brownies (and you can find both recipies on Food tv.com - links below)

I suppose, but why don't you try double chocolate chip cookies, or cut out the brownies with cookie cutters? Something to show you made an effort and want to get into the spirit of cookie exchange.

I think it would be ok...they're in the same family :)

However I've learned over years not to exchange (swap) food with others. I know it sounds sad but ppl aren't clean and don't always take into consderation that food they are making is for other ppl. Unless they're ppl you know very well i(or have been to there house) t's kind of a touchy subject for me. I became like this after learning a lady I worked with had 5 cats that were allowed all over her house (kitchen counter included) when we had a pot luck holiday dinner. She let the cat out of the bag (no pun included) when she brought pictures to work of a couple of her cats in a picture on the kitchen counter next to holiday cookies that she'd made. My first thought was were they allowed on the counter while she was making with them and if not did she wipe the counter off before cooking...? Hope I didn't spoil your swap...if you don't want to eat the cookies now take them to your local fire/police station or shelter...that's what I now do.

I don't see why not. Some people consider brownies a form of bar cookie. Also, I would think that they are within the spirit of the thing...bring good, sweet goodies to share with everyone!

Sure, but somebody's gonna be unhappy. And that somebody is who you will give your brownies to.
