I live in a very nice neighborhood on a cul-de-sac road and one of the houses next to mine plays hard rock music all the time. Well, I have asked them THREE times, nicely, to please turn down their music. I can hear it in my living room it's so loud and even over the tv. Well, they turn it down everytime I ask, but then a few weeks later they will start playing music again!! I mean c'mon people, I just want to ask them if they're f***ing stupid. I mean they know its loud, so they obviously know that when they play it, that we can hear it. I pay way too much for my house to not even watch tv in peace. What should I do next?? We plan on living here for a couple more years so I don't want to have a bad relationship with them and be the bitchy neighbor but I would also like to live in peace. I want to call the cops but like I said, I don't want anyone to hate me. Thanks!!!

Sounds like war to me...start playing baseball in the backyard and hit a couple through their window.
LOL No, just kidding, don't do that, please....
Go to City Hall and obtain a copy of your town's noise ordinance rules and slip it under their door...if they realize they're on the verge of having legal action taken against them with something official looking as that, they'll quit. If you're living in the cul-de-sac, as you say, then it could have been "anybody" that gave it to them.

This is a very difficult situation you're facing. I feel for you because my family and I have been dealing with bad neighbors for over a decade. The last one that left several years ago was a loan shark and threatened to beat up my parents, and that was the final straw for us cos we knew he was very well capable of it since he's involved in illegal dealings such as loan-sharking etc.
If what you want is the peace of mind, I suggest you have a backup plan just in case calling the cops doesn't work. The cops will probably just have a word with that inconsiderate neighbor, and that's it... but that's better than nothing. I don't know how old you are or if you're living on your own... and sometimes it can be intimidating to have such a badly-behaved neighbor who is years younger and looks they can make trouble for you, and if that's the case with you, then I understand your fear.

Call the police. If it's that loud, I am sure it bothers your other neighbors..they won't know who called...you have the right to call the police...if you call them enough...they will get tired of coming out and maybe give them a disturbing the peace ticket or you could give them a piece of their own medicine. Buy ear plugs..put them in and wait till you know they are asleep and turn on your music VERY loud..when they complain..say oh..I thought yours was on and I had to turn my mine up to hear mine through yours...I am not a revengeful person but I have neighbors who will actually sit in the parking lot in the early morning hours with stereo in full blast honk the horn and scream at the top of the their lungs for several minutes. Then they go upstairs, shower, slam doors, shower, etc. (our walls are very thin). then they scream at each other for a while, etc. It's very annoying. My landlord does nothing..she doesn't care..They hit my dog with a newspaper and the landlord says it's my fault.. what can I do..GL and I wish you peace and quiet

You need to call the cops. They might view you as the evil neighbor, but do you really care how those inconsiderate people think of you? It's a matter of respect for others, and I gues they don't have any. When people don't listen to a polite request, you are completely within your right to go to the next level. They are breaking a law by having their music that loud, and if they won't listen to reason, then they should listen to the police.
Hope this helps!

invite one person over...maybe the head of the house..and tell them to keep the music up as they have it at the time...then play your tv the way you do..let them hear it and ask them, "you they think that this is disturbing "...if you have a HOA....they have to abide by the rules.....having angry neighbors only make for a pittyful life....do what you can to be nice..but if all else ail...you will need to call the police...obviously they don't care or respect you. it is your home and a place of peace....make your peace...soon enough you'll forget that you have a fewd , when you can't even hear they are there....

Hi ab22,
If they choose to ignore your requests, the next time music is loud, file a police report and continue to file reports and the police will probably ask one time nicely, and thereafter, they are being a problem to the police also, and no matter how F***ing stupid they may be, they will learn when they wind up in court.
Sad to say, some people must be dealt with in that manner.

I agree that you should call the police, but ask if they can keep your name private and not reveal it to your neighbors. It would also help if any of your surrounding neighbors would join in your effort and support you when you are confronting them!
Hope everything works out well!

Nobody will know it's you who called the cops. They are breaking the law. You've already asked them to stop politely, now it's time to get the police involved.

Call the cops. Your town might even have a noise ordinance. You'd rather have a bad quality of life just so they can like you?
