Fixing a dog does not change its personality one bit. The younger you fix it, the less it will want to act....manly. Also, its energy level deffiniately does not depend on fixing or not. The odds are your dog will not change in negative ways, but a week or so afterward your dog might seem shy, but don't worry about it, he'll be up and running in no time!

Neutering has been known to lower the aggressiveness in a dog. However, other than that, personality and energy shouldn't change at all.

((little edit: Don't do it too soon in a puppy or he won't be much of a boy! Ask the vet for the best time))

Not necessarily. It changes the the hormone levels in the animal and eliminates sexual desire. As a breeder of Shih Tzus their character is set in stone from the moment of birth. The only thing that can change that is environment or old age.
I also worked with horses for 45 years and found the same thing, that personality never changed nor did energy. Only their ability to focus on what you where trying to teach them suffered.

It will keep him from females in heat which can lead to critical dog fights in the neighborhood especially if your dog is loose. They can sense a female in heat from great distances and act a lilttle crazy. Neutering is the best thing you can do for your pet. It may slow him a little. Shi tzus have that energetic personality regardless.

It does not change the personality of the dog. It will change the behavior slightly. They will be more focused on you and pleaseing you and not looking for love.
When they are intact the first instinct is to breed or find something to breed with. After being altered they do not worry about that and do everything else.
It laso lowers their risk of cancer and will let the mlive a longer life.

The dogs aggressiveness is less, but every thing else is just fine. in fact for females it alleviates some of the pain and discomfort of being in heat also. And sometimes (for most dogs) it will keep a dog from humping peoples leg if its a male.

It shouldn't. After the surgery, your dog will be a little sleepy, tired, unenergetic, and grumpy, but that's because right after the surgery it still hurts and also the anaesthetic is still wearing off and getting out of its system. Always make sure you're not neutering your dog too early, because since its not fully developed it will grow back and you will have neutered your dog for nothing.

Normally I would have agreed with the people that told you no, but I cannot agree with everyone. I had my male dog neutered and he was sweet and loving, now he is very aggressive. My neighbor had her female blue heeler spayed and she is sweet toward people but changed dramatically toward other animals.
I think it depends on the dog, so yes they can change, but chances of that happening is slim i think, but from experiance i have seen them change.

It didn't in my dogs. It just keeps them from being over eager I think. As in energy no there still all very hyper. As soon as I bought mine home they went right back to there routine. And if its a male hell stop pissing on everything which is also nice.
