Does anybody have the set box from overseatv.com and their service to receive German TV programs (live from Germany) here in the USA? If yes, do you like it? Can you tell me a little about it? I would like to know a little more about this service and system before I invest into this box. Thanks in advance for answering my question!

After looking at the site, you should have no problems whatsoever with the equipment you have. Their programming is streaming video, most likely MPEG-4 (think Video on Demand.) MPEG video and audio are an international standard, and you shouldn't run into conversion issues. That in itself sounds pretty sweet. It looks like a good investment in that case---and it explains the reason for the converter box! Like video on demand, the digital signal has to be converted to fit the analog television's needs.

What gave that away for me was the fact you could also watch it on your computer through an Internet connection.

Sir, I am not familiar with the WEB page or the device to allow you to watch German TV, here, in America.

But, having been stationed five times in Germany, retired from the military and worked 18 years there, I can suggest some issues to consider before you commit dollars!

There is no CABLE, bringing European TV, under the ocean to America! The only possibility would be satellite.

Europe broadcast using PAL SECAM and PAL systems. The placement of video and audio, in these systems are different than the placement in the American system, NTSC!

So, for openers, you need either a TV with the PAL system, or a multi system TV, (can play both system), or some sort of conversion unit to convert the PAL signal into NTSC.

None of this address the unit that down loads the SAT signal and the program key that you need in order to access the signal.

Other, possible, US requirements, I am not familiar with.

But you do have to deal with those I have listed. All Americans wanting to watch American Programs had to buy a special decoder and have American TV capability in Germany. The unit coast $550.00 in the American Post Exchange (PX).

Try to see this system functioning and note all the requirements
for that system, $$$.
