Short answer: PC games do not work on a Linux computer.

Long answer: A very small list of games are compatible with Linux. Also, there are programs like Wine that can act as a compatibility layer, confusing the Windows game into thinking it's on a Windows machine.

Basically, Linux isn't for games. This is changing, slowly, but for now if you have a really powerful and up to date gaming computer, install WinXP on it.

No, most games you buy at the store are programmed to be run in Windows or Mac. But, like Pink_floyd said, you can use Wine emulator to convert your games. And if you want to go to the extreme, Cedega is a program made SOLELY to convert video games and works efficiently with almost everything.

Don't let this slight inconvenience prevent you from using Linux!

There is a program called wine in linux that allows you to run windows programs. As far as i know, a lot of games play with some tweaking and stuff. My friend plays WC3 consistently using Wine. Occasionally, there will be quirks, but its better than nothing!

If you mean PC games, then heck no! Linux only plays games specified to its operating system.
ABSOLUTELY NO GAMES FRONM COMMON ELECTRONIC STORES WORK ON WINDOWS. To get games for Linux, you'll have to order from Linux's homepage, I don't know the exact link though.
