I doesn't exactly hurt while they are being put it/taken out but your teeth will become a bit tender for about 2 days afterwards.
Stay away from hard foods or seemingly soft food like cold fries. Take small bites.
Good luck!

I have braces on now and I've had lots of friends with braces and we've all had pretty much the same experiences:
It doesn't hurt when you get them on, but the day after you get them on it will really hurt when you try to eat and ache sometimes when you don't. The pain subsides after a week. I've heard aspirin helps. Yogurt, smoothies, soup, etc. are things you can eat during this week without much trouble.
For me and several of my other friends, getting the braces tightened didn't hurt, it got a little sore (and I mean barely noticeable) but that's it. However, some of my other friends have felt a lot of pain from tightening.
It doesn't hurt when they're removed.

I have had braces 3 times. I'm on my third time now and am 25.
They DO NOT hurt when you have them put on. The only thing is for the first 2-3 days your lips and inside of your cheeks will get a little irritated at having something metal in your mouth since it's soft skin in there. Your teeth will be a little sore once they start moving.
It is definitely livable. And it's not PAIN, it's a little annoying but worth the results.
Having them taken off isn't really painful either. Slight soreness when they pop them off but just take Advil and you are fine. It's so exciting to get them off you don't really care.
NOT a big deal. Not PAIN, I promise.

There will be some discomfort associated with wearing braces. Possibly some pain. Including
having metal points and wires in your mouth your cheeks and tongue need to learn to avoid.
the strain of moving teeth slowly in your jaw
very rare but possible nerve damage if your teeth are very unhealthy before you got braces
Removing braces can be uncomfortable also but not as bad as wearing them since removing them is relatively quick compared to wearing them for months on end.

Yes but it will hurt way more if you dont brush well! That could lead to bad stuff like cavites! but if you eat the right stuff and take care of your teeth they will be fine on the other hand im not sure if they hurt when you take them off because i still have them but they do when there put on.Braces dont hurt when you get used to them time heals! lol

It's not so much that it hurts, it just aches after they get put on and when they get tightened. It's just adjustment, and it only lasts a few days.

I remember them hurting a little bit when I first got them on, they felt strange and tight. It is when you keep going back to get them tightened that it hurts worst. When you get them off, it doesnt hurt at all.
