Sparkling water is also known as carbonated water or seltzer water. It is plain water into which carbon dioxide gas has been dissolved. Since it is only carbonated water, I buy the generic brand seltzer water at the local grocery store. Perhaps some of the waters are more carbonated than others, but I'm not sure of that or by how much.

If mineral water is carbonated then it is sparkling mineral water, some of which are very good, but pricey. If you have a Trader Joe's in your area, then look there to buy the sparkling mineral water since they often sell it cheaper than other places in town.

Sparkling water is carbonated water, therefore has fizz (gas). Normal water has no fizz.
Why is this an important question?
