No, it did not die with them. Their office is filled over and over again down through the ages with the Bishops of The Holy Catholic Church.

During their lifetime the apostles’ presence served as a restraint upon the influences of apostasy, holding back the forces of false worship within the Christian congregation. It is evidently to this “restraint” that the apostle Paul referred at 2 Thessalonians 2:7: “True, the mystery of this lawlessness is already at work; but only till he who is right now acting as a restraint gets to be out of the way.” (Compare Mt 13:24, 25; Ac 20:29, 30.) This apostolic influence, including the authority and powers unique with them, continued until the death of John about 100 C.E. (1Jo 2:26; 3Jo 9, 10) The rapid influx of apostasy and false doctrine and practices after the death of the apostles shows that any pretended apostolic successors had none of the restraining influence of the apostles.

Peter in no way in accordance to Scripture ordained any apostle. sure they solid plenty concerning Matthias, and it fell on him yet that replaced into an agreed upon company determination. Peter had not greater authority than the different apostles, and James the Lord's brother, replaced into the chief of the Jerusalem church, not Peter. There are not any apostles right now as John replaced into the final one to die in the previous the turn of the fist century. the subsequent era of leaders have been Bishops as Paul had recommended Timothy and Titus who have been pastors to nominate as leaders of the church homes that have been being regular. Paul did not make Timothy or Titus apostles, yet did provide them the authority to act on his behalf as leaders. Joseph Smith has his own e book and church which has no connection with the hot testomony church. it rather is a pretend testomony that's foreign places to the actual word of God, as written by making use of Paul and the different New testomony writers. The time era pope isn't interior the bible because it is not a biblically given place of work or identify. The protestors broke with the Catholic church for sturdy reason and one replaced into you ought to pay your way into heaven and one greater the church ought to not be wondered because it saved the bible from the elementary human beings, utter blasphemy. i will end right here yet learn your bibles or learn them greater and get under sound biblical preparation.

The Apostles in Jesus' time did ordain bishops throughout their areas of authority, but when they died, so did the authority with them.
Contrary to what is believed in other churches, a great apostasy took place as prophesied by Elijah and the very priesthood of God was denied until it was conferred upon Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery in May, 1829.
(How many thumbs-down will I get for this?)

The authority God gave the apostles dies with them. However, as God raised up other apostles (Paul, Luke, Epaphroditus) God gave them authority to work in the body of Christ and to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world as a witness to them. One must understand that Christ is the head and we are all servants of the King of Israel, who is the Lord Jesus Christ. When the Lord dispatches a messenger he will always come in the authority of the sender.

Kind of depends on what you mean by authority. authority over the devil authority to heal ....authority over others....
Jesus never passed down authority to heal or over the works of the devil....exclusively to the apostles but to the body of Christ....Read ephesians.... believers are seated with Christ in heavenly places far above all principalities powers and dominion..basically the works of the devil.......
the Pope has no more auth than any believer in Christ we're all seated with Christ.....a good book I recomend would be the Triumphant Chruch by Kenneth E Hagin...
Blessings....

Absolutely not! Apostolic succession is shown at the very beginning of Acts 1:23-26. Also, I Th 3:2 The message of the apostles were entrusted to their followers to strengthen those who doubted or lacked the faith to believe: “...while we sent Timothy, our brother who works with us for God in preaching the Good News about Christ. We sent him to strengthen you and help your faith,

Well, not according to the Catholic Church. They place their entire claim of supremacy and absolute on the dogma of "Apostolic Succession." This means that they say Peter was the very first Pope (which has proved to fe false) and therefore all the Popes following him are basically just filling his orignal shoes of leadership. Since Jesus allegedly told Peter to "take care of my flock" the Chruch, therefore, claims its authority originated with Jesus' command to Peter.

If by authority you mean the signs of miracles, then the answer is no. "These signs will follow those who believe; in my Name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover" -Mk.16:17, 18. Those who've accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour are His disciples. If this isn't what you meant by your question then please edit it so I can come back and more appropriately answer it. If you meant as eyewitnesses to Christ's life, death and resurrection then the answer would obviously be yes

No, the authority of Peter was handed on to the next Pope who was called Linus in 76AD, and from him to Anacletus, and so on down to the present Pope Benedict and the succession of these Popes is documented.
