My son only started walking at 18 months, so you are not alone. I thought there was something wrong with him as my other son walked at 12 months. Don't compare to other kids his age. I know this is hard, but one of the worst things I do.

They say not to worry until after the age of 18 months. Even then some take a little longer. There is really nothing to worry about and its definitley nothing you did. If he is crawling and walking around the furniture then he will be walking in no time. Just put him at the couch and stand a few feet in front of him with your hands out and try to get him to walk to you. I did this over and over and he loved to do it. Thought it was fun. He finally took off walking one day. That is how I got mine to walk. My younges didnt walk until he was 15 months.

Don't worry too much, I'm sure he will walk soon. He may just be a bit slower. As long as he is working towards it , than just do things to help him out. Like try getting him those toys from Playschool that are made just for helping babies learn to walk. Also hold his favorite toy in front of him when he is standing and see if that helps with taking the first steps. Good Luck!

did he try earlier and fall?

my sister was over2 when she walked because she had a fall and it scared her.

your health visitor should be keeping an eye on his development as a whole (if your in the UK).

boys can be a bit lazy in there development, he's showing signs, just encourage him by holding his favourite toy a few steps away, the temptation will be too great to not try.

even if he only takes one step make a massive fuss of him, praising his efforts will get him going.

us mums are so funny, we spend so many months teaching our kids to walk and talk. then as they grow we tell them to shut up and keep still!! he he ;)

Children do things at their own pace. My first walked at 14 months and my second 11 months. My niece who is 5 weeks younger than my eldest did not walk til she was 23 months and there's nothing wrong with her.
If he's walking round the furniture it won't be long before he starts to walk on his own. Please don't worry, he will do it when he's ready!!

lots of answers saying not to worry and i agree... don't worry.

one thing you can do to encourage him is to take him out for walks holding on to your hand.... if he can't do it with one hand try letting him hold to both your hands, which is difficult for you, but when he is a bit more confident in a few days one hand will be fine. the walks are really short to start, but get longer as strength and balance improves. one day he will just waddle across the room like he's been doing it for years.

good luck!
