It kind of depends on your price range....but I think a really good idea for boys that age is either an electric razor or some really nice cologne or something. It's a nice gift anyways...but will also make him feel like a man! ...17 year old boys like that feeling! :)

How about an annual subscription to something he really likes, ie: monthly magazine, favourite art gallery, depends where you live because there are loads of great places in London to sign up for a year; depends what he is into - if he likes animals or birds you can pay for a year's care and have his name put on the cage (seriously I recently did this for a friend of mine who is very kind and caring); of course if he is short of cash maybe money or vouchers,

Find out what he loves and what he is really into. For example, my younger brother loves Volkswagons and comic books. So I get him things that reflect his interests. Or sometimes sentimental gifts can be special like getting him something that he loved when he was a little boy that gave him happy memories (although that might be too mushy for a 17 year old boy!).

Sometimes it depends on what a teen is interested in some would like an i pod or an xbox 360 so really just find out what they r interested in be for you buy a Gide and make sure you dint buy the same thing some one else has already bought him.

If I was you I would get him a DISCOVER card. It's like a credit card but without the debt, so its more like a gift card with a certain amount of money on it. AND, he can use it wherever he wants. If you want more information, Google "discover cards"

I make my brother a t-shirt everyyear and it is hilarious.

Walmart sells iron on letters. This year i make him one that says "i love my hermana" (i love my sister) and one that syas "i dont need pants" Its the best and i he wears them all of the time!
